Rend Lake water line breaks

FRANKLIN COUNTY - A break Tuesday in an 18-inch water transmission line from Rend Lake has put customers on notice about their water supply.

Officials from the Rend Lake Conservancy District water plant say the break is south of West Frankfort and any community served by the transmission line south of that location could be affected.

While no water has been shut off and pressure levels appear to be O.K., some officials, like those in the city of Marion, have cautioned
residents to conserve water.

Marion officials don't expect the water supply to run out before the
break is fixed and won't issue a boil order unless repairs take longer than expected.

RLCD reports once they dig down to the leak, they'll be able to
determine whether or not they have the parts to fix it immediately. At that time it will be determined whether water service will have to be shut off. - http://goo.gl/XZHcO
